About SiteSig
What it Does
- SiteSig tracks down static pages that disappear and reappear in different locations.
- SiteSig generates tight search queries based on lexical analysis of page content.
- Queries work well even when content changes, as long as the topic and vocabulary stay similar to the original.
- If the page remains accessible to search engines you can find it.
How to Use It
- Copy and paste a web site URL into the reverse search engine form.
- Press Generate to create the reverse search.
- Save generated search links as bookmarks.
Extension for Firefox and Other Browsers (coming soon)
- Directly generate search links for the current page.
- Automatically search for alternate locations when a known page fails to load.
Limitations
- SiteSig only has an English lexicon. It won't work well for other languages.
- It doesn't yet save URL to search terms mappings. So it won't help if you didn't save a search bookmark.
- It's still at the prototype stage.
Credits and Contacts
- SiteSig is the joint creation of Claes-Fredrik Mannby and Steve Cooper.
